Can I use the vectors commercially?

Yes, on every plan. You own what you upload and what you download.

Do you store my uploads?

Tracing happens in your browser, so we never receive the file. AI Cleanup sends it to OpenAI and we do not keep it. We never train on your artwork.

Will it work with my cutter or press?

We follow the format standards, so anything that reads SVG, EPS or DXF will open it — Cricut, Silhouette, CorelDRAW, Illustrator, Affinity, Inkscape. For Cricut, trace from our Cricut page so gradients are flattened for Design Space.

Does The Transparent Background Actually Stay Transparent?

Yes. We measure how much of the PNG is transparent, and when it is, no background fill is added at all — the trace only fills in a background for fully opaque images. The empty parts of your PNG stay empty in the SVG.

Should I Convert My PNG To JPG Before Uploading?

No. PNG is lossless, so it is already the cleanest possible source — there is no compression artifact to clean up first. Converting to JPG only adds one, and then you are tracing a copy that is worse than what you started with.

Do I Still Get PDF, EPS And DXF From A PNG Source?

Yes. The output formats are the same regardless of what you upload — trace once and download SVG, PDF, EPS or DXF from that same result, no re-processing needed.

Tracing is not a format conversion. A PNG stores exact pixels; a vector stores shapes fitted to them. Flat art and lettering fit closely. A photograph does not, whatever it was saved as.

PNG to SVG, step by step

Get The Cleanest Trace From A PNG.

A PNG is already the best raster you can bring. These five steps keep it that way from upload to download.

Start From The Largest PNG You Have
Use the original export, not a screenshot or a copy saved from a website. Anything up to 2000 px on the long edge is used as-is; larger files are scaled down to that. Enlarging a small PNG in an image editor first adds no detail, only bigger pixels.
Drop It In And Let Auto Pick The Mode
Auto reads the image and chooses Flat Art for logos, icons and lettering, or Photo for shaded artwork. Either way, a PNG with a transparent background is traced without one.
Check The Background Is Still Empty
Switch Preview Background to Checker. The chequerboard should show through everywhere your PNG was transparent. If it does, your SVG has no hidden white rectangle behind the artwork.
Tidy The Colour Count
Soft, anti-aliased edges can leave a few near-identical shades. The Tidy Colours button merges them, and you can type an exact number into Colors if you know how many your artwork really has.
Download The Format The Job Needs
SVG for the web, design apps and Cricut; PDF or EPS for print; DXF for CAD and cutting software. Once a file is unlocked, downloading it again in another format is free.

Why PNG Beats JPG As A Source

PNG is lossless: every pixel is exactly what was drawn, so there are no compression blocks for the tracer to mistake for detail. It is also the common format that carries real transparency, which is what keeps a cut-out a cut-out.

What Happens To Semi-Transparent Edges

Exported artwork fades its edges into transparency so they look smooth. Those half-covered pixels are read as partial coverage of the shape, so the edge comes back as a smooth curve rather than as a thin outline in a slightly different colour.

When A PNG Is Really A Photo

A PNG can hold a photograph just as easily as a logo. If yours is shaded or photographic, Photo mode gives a smoother, poster-style result than Flat Art. The trace-mode switch sits right above the colour controls.
